Ari Kristinsson graduated from the Department of VisualCommunication of the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in 1979.He studied art from 1980-81 at The California Instutute of the Arts.
From 1980 he has been working in the Icelandic film industry as a, producer cinematographer, editor, scriptwriter, producer and director.
Running the Icelandic Film Corporation with Fridrik Thor Fridriksson to 1999. In the begining of the year 2000 he has establist a new Production company. Taka film Production.
As a director he has made tree feature film, “The Adventures of Paper Peter”, “Count me Out” and “No Network.
As a cinematographer he has shotsixteen feature films, among them Fridrik Thor Fridriksson’s Children of Nature, nominated for an Oscar in 1992 as best foreign film.
As a scriptwriter he has written the script of Count me Out, The Adventures of Paper Peter, and The Old Doll and co-written, with Thrainn Bertelsson, Pastoral Life, Deep Winter and A Policeman’s Lot. And the script of No Network .
Ari Kristinsson is now the Chairman of the Association of Icelandic Film Producers SÍK
