Jóhann has been heavily involved in the Icelandic music business since the early 90s. He has worked for various artists and labels, doing everything from marketing and promotion to PR, A&R, label management, import and export. When taking a little break from the business, Jóhann who studied Business and Marketing at the University of Iceland started studies in Cultural management at the University of Bifröst. Since then he has also added a degree in Production and event management at Hólar University. In his studies Jóhann has been involved in research of the Icelandic music business but he has also written about music for various newspapers and music magazines in Iceland.
Jóhann has worked for many Icelandic artists, like Mugison, Eberg, Jakobínarína, Hellvar, Jagúar, Bang Gang and Singapore Sling to name a few. Most recently he’s been working closely with amiina regarding distribution and publishing world wide.
Jóhann also runs his own little music festival for kids and teenagers in the small fishing village Patreksfjörður, called Pönk á Patró (Punk at Patró). This festival, a concert and a workshop, is held once every summer free of charge for kids less than 15 years of age.
Kraumur Music Fund is an independent non-profit music office and fund based in Reykjavik. The Fund’s primary aim is to enhance and strengthen the musical life in Iceland and support local artists in performing and presenting their work within and outside of Iceland.
