Njörður is a lecturer at Bifröst University in Iceland and has worked with an advocacy group to promote open access to scholarly research. His main research areas are cultural management and organizational aesthetics, in particular, democratic structures, idea sharing and participative listening. He is currently working on a research project concerning the use of online video documentation of noise in public protests. Njörður is the author of the book Höndlun þekkingar [Handling knowledge] but before getting absorbed in academia he worked for the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Icelandic Opera, and as managing director of the Icelandic Literature Fund. He is also the lead singer/guitarist, of the two (very) little-known rock bands: “Jón sló en Gunna rakaði” (scream-punk) and “Vinir mömmu þinnar” (available for weddings – just call!).
